    In 2016, Reel Youth visited Norman Wells, NT for two weeks. They facilitated a youth and elders documentary project and a series of issue-based claymation programs, where participants produced these amazing short films. They also produced a tourism video for the community.

Dominion Diamond Deal
Under the terms of the deal, a subsidiary of The Washington Companies will purchase all of Calgary-based Dominion's outstanding common shares for $14.25 US ($18.03 CDN) a share, the companies announced in a news release Monday.
The deal will give The Washington Companies ownership of Dominion's holdings including two in the Northwest Territories. The group will take controlling interest in the Ekati mine and 40 per cent ownership of the Diavik mine.

N.W.T. mineral exploration funding more than doubles in 'competitive' year
Mining exploration companies in the Northwest Territories are getting a bigger boost than expected from the territorial government this year, after almost $1 million in exploration funding was announced last week — more than double the money available last year.
Tom Hoefer, executive director of the N.W.T. and Nunavut Chamber of Mines, says the increase in requests for funding reflects two things: the general need for financial help on the part of prospectors and junior mining companies in the N.W.T., and a general upturn in commodity markets, which encourages prospectors to get out on the land.

Town of Norman Wells
With the large amount of work Council and Administration have been completing in the past few months, I wanted to take some time and give everyone an update on some of the larger projects that are currently in progress.
The Town has four separate projects ongoing as part of the overall Clean water and Wastwater fund Projects. These projects are the Lift Station, the Water Sewer Assessment, the Lagoon Berm upgrades and monitoring wells and the sewer main replacement and rehab of the Tulita/Franklin Corridor.

NTPC Now Generating Power
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) is now generating electricity for the town of Norman Wells, taking over from Imperial Oil.
For the past 28 years, power generated by Imperial Oil was sold to the NTPC, which the power corporation then used to supply the town with electricity.
